Candidate 8 was pulled out from the other side and birthed into a contained room in the Federal Bureau of Breaches & Containment. The first years of her life was spent phasing in and out of reality, unsure of how to exist in a physical space. In eyes of the agents working at FBBC at the time, she was no more than a glorified guinea pig, a testament that humans too could breach the veil and pull things from the other side.
As C-8's body slowly solidified, so did a personality. She became aware of the humans around her, of how they gawked at her and ran tests of no personal importance to her. She mimicked the humans, copying their speech and mannerism to fill a void of boredom. As she showed clear signs of intelligence and individuality, the current director of the FBBC, Martin Reed, to special interest in C-8. He would visit her cell and have conversation with her. He'd ask her mundane questions - where had she grown up? Who was she, really? C-8 simply told him that she was an ordinary girl, from an ordinary town and that her name was Aryn Rodi.
Yet people remained weary of her. She was, after all, not human. The Director took Aryn under his wing, guiding her through the learning of human behavior, of how to be useful to the Bureau in which she now lived. She became the barrier between humans and Breaches, the power struggle forcing her body to disintegrate before slowly piecing itself together again.
